About Meera Mami

Meera Srinivasan (Meera Mami, as we fondly call her) was born in Vishnampettai, Thanjavur district, Madras Province (now Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu) to M.V.Krishnamoorthi and Gyanambal. She was the third of five children and has two brothers and two sisters. She started learning and practising Carnatic Music at the tender age of 10. She got married to Srinivasan (Seenu Mama) on November 1st, 1971. She developed keen interest in Slokams after marriage. She learnt Slokams from 1973 to 1976 under the guidance of Guru Ananthalakshmi Venkatraman. Seenu Mama's support during her learning days is praiseworthy. Mami started teaching in 1981 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.  She feels immense joy in learning and teaching Slokams and Bhajans and would like to spread this joy far and wide. This website has been created to reach out to more people and to help them attain the same joy. It is my pleasure to compile and present before you Slokams by Meera Mami.
